Siemens to manufacture Sinacon PV inverters in India

Siemens last week launched a new series of photovoltaic (PV) central inverters of up to 5,000 kVA for the Indian market.

Siemens said it will manufacture the Sinacon PV inverter at its Kalwa factory near Mumbai. It plans to sell the product on the domestic market and to also export it in the region. The inverter is part of its new electrical Balance of Plant (eBoP) solution for PV installations.

The new inverter is equipped with three-level insulated-gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) modules and cooling that allows it to work in temperatures ranging between minus 40 degrees Celsius and plus 60 degrees Celsius. The product will be offered for medium and large-sized utility-scale solar installations.

Siemens noted that the Indian renewable energy market is the second most attractive one in the world with a total installed solar capacity exceeding 14 GW. The government of the Asian country has set a 100 GW solar target for 2022.
