Tata Power switches on 50-MW solar plant in Karnataka

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has commissioned a 50-MW solar power plant at the Pavagada solar park in the southwestern Indian state of Karnataka.

The domestic content requirement (DCR) project will sell its output under a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with NTPC Ltd at INR 4.84 per kWh. TPREL won the project in April 2016 under the National Solar Mission Phase-II Batch-II Tranche-I State Specific Bundling Scheme, the company said.

The newly commissioned facility brings the operating capacity of TPREL to 1,664 MW.

The subsidiary of Indian utility Tata Power Co Ltd recently brought online 100 MW of solar capacity at the Pavagada solar park, as well as a 25-MW solar plant in Gujarat and a 30-MW solar project in Maharashtra.
