Suzlon Commissions 340 MW of Solar Projects

Suzlon, a domestic wind energy project developer has recently forayed into the solar space and has successfully commissioned 340 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects across three states of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Rajasthan.

These three projects namely Telangana (210 MW), Rajasthan (60 MW), and Maharashtra (70 MW) were executed with the help of a combination of joint ventures and formation of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) with various partners.

The projects, developed on a turnkey basis, were won through competitive bidding in Telangana, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) bid in Rajasthan and Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) bid in Maharashtra.

Suzlon’s focus on solar will continue to be through wind-solar hybrid projects, which will lead to better utilization of grid, due to complementary generation profile. It will also save on duplication of costs such as land and evacuation infrastructure.

Suzlon also has an international presence in 18 countries across Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, and north and south America.
