Work On Kerla’s Rs 250 Cr. Waste-To-Energy Plant To Start By Year-End

Preliminary construction work of the proposed waste to energy plant (WTE) at Njeliyanparambu trenching ground to be set up at a cost of Rs 250 crore will commence in December.

Officials of Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), nodal agency of the project said that Bangalore based Zonta Infratech Private Limited, entrusted with the plant construction has formed a special company ‘Malabar Waste Management Private Limited’ for the execution of the plant.

KSIDC officials have informed that Malabar Waste Management Private Limited will carry out the implementation of the project. A concession agreement pertaining to it was signed on September 4 at the chamber of Local Self Government Department (LSGD).

The plant will be set up on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) basis on the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.The proposed plant will dispose 300 tonnes of waste per day.

The plant will be come up on 12.67 acres of land at Njaliyanparambu handed over by the civic body to KSIDC on lease basis.
