Tata Motors Is Building An Ecosystem For Sustainable Mobility

Building an ecosystem for sustainable mobility is top priority for Tata Motors Ltd. The company plans to launch four electric cars over the next 18-24 months.

They recently launched the electric variant of its popular Nexon compact sports utility vehicle (SUV). Nexon electric vehicle (EV), Tata’s second offering in the electric mobility space, is its first in the personal vehicles segment.

To build the electric mobility ecosystem, group companies such as Tata Power, Tata AutoComp, Tata Chemicals, Tata Consultancy Services and others will collaborate with Tata Motors to pitch in with specific support.

For example, while Tata Chemicals will do cell level research and development in lithium ion chemistry, Tata AutoComp will work in battery assembly modules along with battery management system (BMS).

Expanding its electric vehicle portfolio, Tata Motors plans to roll out an electric 12-meter, low-floor bus and a 9-tonne ultra electric truck. Both the electric commercial vehicles are on display at the Auto expo 2020.

The company unveiled its HBX SUV concept car, which according to company will open a new category of vehicles in the market. The HBX concept is built on its alfa platform, which also powers its recently launched Altroz premium hatchback, and is an electric vehicle.
