Tesla’s electric vehicles are becoming increasingly safe — and similar in terms of sustainability. The Tesla Model 3 recently received 5 stars in “Green NCAP,” the greatest rating ever in one category. For these testing, Green NCAP employed a Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), this is currently the base model.
The Green New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) in Europe assesses both ICE and electric vehicles for their contribution to global pollution. Green NCAP evaluates cars based on three primary criteria: clean air index, energy efficiency index, and greenhouse gas index. Overall, the Tesla Model 3 received a 9.8 out of 10 in these three categories.
Individual scores in each area are as follows:
- Clean Air Index = 10 / 10
- Energy Efficiency Index = 9.6 / 10
- Greenhouse Gas Index = 9.8 / 0
Tesla stated it this way:
“Tesla’s continual iteration method introduces running adjustments to vehicles to increase thermal comfort, driving dynamics, economy, range, and other attributes.” This guarantees that new clients obtain the most up-to-date hardware and get the most range for their money (or euro).
In reality, 1 kWh of energy allows Model 3 to go 7 kilometers, compared to only 2 kilometers in an identical ICE car. This efficiency results in cost savings for the consumer and such impressive ratings for the car.
