Shakti Pumps (India) Limited, a leading manufacturer of stainless-steel submersible solar pumps, pressure booster pumps, pump-motors, controllers, and inverters, among other products, has begun operations in Uganda and established a branch office there.
The government of Uganda has given the company a contract in March 2021 to supply solar-powered water pumping system for a total contract price of USD 35.30 million (exclusive of VAT), which will be paid by India Exim Bank in Uganda. This solar-powered piped drinking water supply project will deliver safe and sustainable drinking water to half a million Ugandans spread over 20 rural regions.
Shakti Pumps began as a core pumping Solutions Company before going on to develop India’s first ever 100% stainless-steel pumps and energy efficient motors. It was also granted India’s first BEE 5 Star rated pumps, and it now has over 260 pump models that have received 5-star ratings from the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE).
