NTPC Is Making A Significant Transition To Green Energy

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and HPCL Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the field of renewable energy through the procurement of 250 MW of renewable energy round the clock (RTC) to fulfill HMEL’s electricity needs. The MoU also intends to investigate potential in the green hydrogen business and its derivatives, such as green ammonia and green methanol.

HMEL is an Indian integrated refining and petrochemical firm founded by HPCL and Mittal Energy Investments Private Limited. HMEL manufactures superior petroleum and petrochemical products and runs the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery in Bathinda, Punjab, with a capacity of 11.3 MMTPA.

NTPC recently launched a feasibility study for a 130 MW floating solar power plant in Tripura’s Gomati district. The facility under consideration is located in the state’s Dumbur Lake. The Tripura state government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) to build floating solar and ground-mounted renewable energy projects in Tripura, according to the notification.
