Mercedes To Launches Its Own High-Power EV Charging Stations

Mercedes-Benz will launch its first high-power charging stations this fall, as part of its extensive plans to expand the global charging infrastructure. Mercedes-Benz will launch its first Charging Hubs in Atlanta, Chengdu, and Mannheim in October.

The company plans to expand its global charging network to over 2,000 high-power charging points by the end of 2024 and establish more than 2,000 Charging Hubs with over 10,000 charging points by the end of the decade.

The charging stations will have a high charging rate of up to 400 kW and will support different charging systems like CCS1, CCS2, NACS, and GB/T. They are designed to serve everyone and the Intelligent charging management will ensure that they charge vehicles at their maximum power, reducing the overall charging time for customers.

The charging network will be available to drivers of any car brand. Mercedes-Benz customers will have exclusive perks, such as being able to reserve a charging point to minimize wait times. The charging network will be smoothly incorporated and will add to the existing global access to over 1.3 million charging points.

Mercedes not only aims to provide a safe and comfortable experience at their charging stations but also plans to use renewable energy to power them. They will generate some of the power from solar panels on-site but in all cases, they’ll purchase renewable power from the local utility.
