Google And CleanMax Join Forces For A Greener India

Today, Google, a global tech giant, announced a strategic partnership with CleanMax, a leading renewable energy provider backed by Brookfield. Together, they aim to decarbonize Google’s operations in India by investing in a significant renewable energy project.

The project, valued at a substantial 125.4 MW, will consist of both solar and wind power generation. The solar component will be in Rajasthan, and the wind power will come from Karnataka. These projects will connect to India’s national grid, providing clean energy to Google’s data centers and offices nationwide.

This collaboration aligns with Google’s ambitious goal of achieving 24/7 carbon-free energy for all its operations by 2030. CleanMax, has expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing it’s commitment to sustainability and net-zero solutions. The collaboration sets a new benchmark for environmental leadership and demonstrates both companies’ dedication to combating climate change.

Google highlighted the importance of strategic partnerships in driving sustainable growth and transitioning to a low-carbon economy. The project will be online in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Once operational, the project will generate an estimated 350 million kWh of clean energy annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 250,000 tons per year. This is equivalent to planting nearly 15 million trees annually, underscoring the project’s significant impact on mitigating climate change.
