In a bid to address the escalating environmental concerns at the Surajpur wetland, Greater Noida Additional CEO, Srilakshmi VS, issued a series of directives. The urgent measures came in response to a recent review meeting.
The meeting with officials and environmentalist Vikrant Tongad highlighted the wetland’s flora damage from unchecked pollution. Untreated wastewater from nearby sources like industrial units, residential areas, and public facilities was polluting the wetland.
So a 700-meter Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) drain is being planned to divert wastewater from Sector Ecotech 3 and Police Lines into a DSC Road drain. Work circle 3 is preparing an estimate and seeking approvals.
Additionally, all industrial unit located adjacent to the wetland are to dispose of its wastewater in to DSC Road drain. By diverting this chemical waste into the DSC Road drain, officials hope to prevent further harm to the wetland’s ecosystem.
Srilakshmi VS assured that these measures are expected to provide sustainable and long-lasting protection to the Surajpur wetland. She also emphasized the importance of fixing drainage problems in Surajpur village
By taking a comprehensive approach to pollution mitigation, Greater Noida aims to safeguard the valuable ecological resources of the Surajpur wetland for future generations.
