Vikram Solar: Solid-State Batteries Powering The Future

Vikarm Solar

Vikram Solar, India’s leading solar PV module manufacturer has launched an extensive expansion of energy storage operations. The company intends to build a 1 GWh fully integrated Solid-state Cell and Battery manufacturing facility with proprietary Battery Management System (BMS) technology. This facility is initially designed to scale up to 5 GWh. Through this initiative the global market will receive a sustainable innovative battery solution, to meet its rapidly growing energy requirements.

This venture directly supports India’s “Atmanirbharta” (self-reliance) initiative and its ambitious renewable energy targets because the solid-state battery development process will rely on Indian-made components for most of its production. Moreover, the company has established a partnership with Entity2 Energy Storage Pvt Ltd to utilize their patented non-lithium solid-state battery technologies for producing flexible battery solutions that will address increasing global energy requirements.

The renewable energy targets that India aims to achieve are substantial. The current power generation from renewable sources in the nation stands at just 15-20% of total consumption. However, the government has set a target of raising renewable energy contributions to 50% by 2030. The achievement of this goal requires major financial investments in battery storage systems.

Vikram Solar’s PowerHive Battery Storage responds directly to this need, with projections indicating a 23-24 GW capacity addition in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) between 2025 and 2030, according to a CRISIL report.

Key Features and Advantages of our Solid-state Batteries:

By integrating BESS, Vikram Solar offers complete power solutions and acts as a single provider. Further, their battery move promotes sustainability.
