Hanwha Solutions, located in Seoul and the owner of Qcells, will work with Microsoft to develop renewable energy capacity estimated at 2.5 gigatonnes of solar panels and related services – enough to power over 400,000 homes.
Furthermore, it will provide panels as well as engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services for certain solar projects with whom Microsoft has entered into power purchase agreements (PPAs).
Microsoft is committed to adopting renewable energy, with the goal of acquiring 100% renewable electricity by 2025. Microsoft has established sustainability programs to promote the manufacturing of green power equipment in locations where they operate across the world.
The need for American-made solar products is projected to be on the rise, and Qcells intends to take advantage of this by establishing itself as a one-stop shop with all clean energy solutions available. Qcells — the sole company in America is offering a full-fledged solar supply chain and singularly clean energy solutions — by supporting its solar products manufactured locally as well as abroad, Microsoft is bringing more renewable sources into the grid systems.
One of the primary goals is to localize solar manufacturing in order to reduce solar-related emissions.
This groundbreaking alliance brings together their common goals of diversifying the global energy business, driving its development in both local and international markets, and concurrently reducing carbon footprints. They are collaborating to build more stable energy supply chains that rely on clean, renewable energy sources.
Qcells is positioned to become a leader among developers of sustainable energy sources such as storage systems, EPC expertise, and smart management software as the only firm in the US with a complete supply chain dedicated only to solar power.
All of these tools work together to provide complete sustainable energy solutions while also helping to mitigate global climate change.
