CleanMax a major renewable energy provider in Asia entered a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Amazon to support sustainable progress. Through this agreement CleanMax will create a massive wind energy facility totaling 100 MW capacity in Koppal, Karnataka, India.
This collaboration aligns perfectly with Amazon’s “Climate Pledge,” a commitment to achieve net-zero carbon emissions across its global operations by 2040.
Under the terms of the agreement, CleanMax will build and operate the 100 MW wind energy project. When operational this project will produce about 355 million kWh of pollution-free electricity annually.
This substantial electricity output from this facility will both accelerate Amazon India’s operations and eliminate 252,000 tons of CO₂ yearly. The environmental results from this project are comparable to the planting of nearly 14.8 million trees annually, indicating a significant contribution this project will make to mitigating climate change.
Operation of this wind energy facility is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2026. When operational the electricity will be fed into India’s national power grid to aid in country’s clean energy transition.
Furthermore, this strategic alliance displays a wider industry trend in which global technology giants like Microsoft, Amazon, Apple etc. are expand their Indian operations, while simultaneously embracing sustainable practices and demonstrating a strong commitment to environmental responsibility.
